The Fairtrade Labelling Organization (FLO) has just released data from its survey of regional Fairtrade audits around the world, which show that 1.2 million farmers and farm workers have benefited from the programme. The information has just been released in a report called “The Benefits of Fairtrade”.

Fairtrade has its strongest support in East Africa, where 47% of small-producing farmer organisations, representing 400,000 individual farmers, are involved in the programme along with 38% of all registered plantations.

Data shows that the organisation’s penetration into Asia grew by 50% last year. Across the world coffee is the largest Fairtrade product, followed by honey and bananas.
