Life Healthy Foods (LHF), a division of New Zealand food producer and marketer Sanitarium, officially opened its brand-new, purpose-built plant in Avondale, Auckland this week as it gears up for export growth.
The company, whose brands include Lisa’s, Naked Organics, Olive Grove, Sahara, Bean Supreme, Kato, Food by Chefs and Prep Kitchen, has combined all its operations that were previously conducted out of five individual business units, as well as off-site storage locations, into the new 3800m² building, which was opened by the Hon. Prime Minister John Key.
The capital investment in the acquisition of the property, the building of the factory and upgrading of plant and machinery, amounted to $12 million.
In his speech, Key said New Zealand food manufacturing could play an important role in food innovation and safety, focusing on supply to countries like Australia and China. LHF sees much of its business growth coming from the export field.
General manager Bennie Hendricks said the company is exporting Bean Supreme products to Australia as well as Naked Organic products. Twenty percent of its vegetarian range is exported.
