Wild South has released its 2010 Marlborough Chardonnay, a wonderfully full-bodied and lusciously fragrant wine from Marlborough winemaker Christie Brown.
The Wild South Marlborough Chardonnay is sourced from the estate vineyards in the Wairau Valley. According to Brown, the vintage has a clean elegance which has resulted in a chardonnay that is tropical and fresh with purity and length of palate.
This delightful drop has inviting aromas reminiscent of 1980s banana chews, vanilla biscuits and old-fashioned apple crumble. The nose then flows generously on to a delicate combination of fresh, crisp apples and hand-picked peaches. The palate is tempted with nectarine and yellow plum which gives an oily lift to a long-lingering finish.
“Given time in the bottle, the flavours of this classic chardonnay will mingle and soften, making the wine more interesting. This is a style that can justly span seasons and occasions,” says Brown.
The 2010 Marlborough Chardonnay is ready to drink now or cellar for two to three years. A brilliant straw colour, it is also a perfect accompaniment to chicken or fresh pasta.
The 2010 Wild South Marlborough Chardonnay is available at wine outlets nationwide, RRP $18.99.
