Kiwifruit and avocado co-operative Satara has reported a NZ$1.1 million profit for the six months to the end of June 2011. This is a return to profit after a loss of NZ$279,000 for the same period in 2010.

Sales, taking revenue to $33.8 million, were up by 9%. However, with volumes up 13% on 2010 sales, the slide in unit value remains a concern for the company, especially with continuing doubts over the potential impact of Psa-infected orchards in coming years.

Satara shares last traded at 55 cents on the NZX alternative market.
