The Blackstone Group, noted as one of the world’s most aggressive and least moral organisations, has taken over New Zealand’s Antares Restaurant Group, operators of the Burger King franchise in this country. This will see foreign ownership in play over one of the biggest foreign retail brands in the country.

Antares, previously owned by Australian-based Anchorage Capital Partners, operates 75 Burger King restaurants in New Zealand, making it the third largest fast food chain in the country after McDonald’s and KFC.

In spite of Blackstone’s standard operation of buying underperforming companies and giving them a rocket, the press release accompanying this decision declares, “We are extremely excited about the potential we see in Antares and the superb quality of the management team who will be our partners to further develop and grow this business…”
