Fonterra’s aim, to make New Zealand an international centre for dairy trading, took a step closer to realisation yesterday with the announcement that one of Australia’s biggest dairy producers will be including its products in the bi-monthly GlobalDairyTrade auction system. Victoria-based Murray Goulburn Cooperative will be offering lactose in future auctions, adding a new trader and a new commodity to the mix.

“This demonstrates GDT’s increasing role as a key platform for international trade in a broad range of dairy commodities,” commented GDT general manager Paul Grave.
